OAKWOOD VETERINARY GROUP - OUT OF HOURS SERVICE IS CHANGING:
To ensure consistency and continuity of care for our clients and pets at times when the surgery is closed, the team at Oakwood are pleased to announce that we will be partnering with Swayne & Partners for all of our Out of Hours provision from 1st June 2022.
We have been lucky enough to work with Swayne & Partners in recent months for intermittent periods of OOH cover, and have made the decision to move to their services permanently.
Swayne & Partners are fully equipped to deal with all emergencies and provide a 24 hour hospital service staffed by a night vet and RVN nursing team.
If your pet needs urgent care out of hours, please call the normal Oakwood telephone number, 01379 852146, and you will be given details of how to contact the emergency vet.
Swayne and Partners are open until 10pm Monday to Friday, so any call between 6pm, when Oakwood close, and 10pm will be charged at their normal day rates (consultation fees starting from £60). Consultations after 10pm, and on weekends will be subject to their normal Out of Hours charges. Please check costs with them when you call as they are not the same as Oakwood fees, they will be more than happy to give you an estimate.
Payment is expected at time of treatment/discharge for all patients and for those who are insured, their policy is for the client to pay them direct and then any insurance claim can be processed and paid back to you by your insurance provider.
Please ensure that you let Swayne & Partners know when you make the initial call to the Out of Hours service that you are an Oakwood client – this will help them to forward the notes on to us quickly after your visit and enable our nurses to follow up on your emergency visit.
Swayne & Partners are unable to offer client visits to your home or ‘home practice’. As I am sure you can appreciate, they are much better equipped to deal with any emergencies surrounded by their CT scanner, ultrasound, ECG, endoscopy and digital X-ray machines in order to provide your pet with the best care possible in an emergency situation.
Dealing with emergencies on your farm
We will always have a vet on call and able to attend farm emergencies for all clients within one hour’s drive from our practice. Just call our number any time of day and night and follow the instructions.
